History

1947

Roy Bartel founded Advertising Letter Service, with one employee and a single Multigraph printing press.

1951

Installed an offset press with capabilities to run direct image and metal plates.

1954

The business moved from 423 N. Main Street to 578 N. Main Street.

1960

Expanded services to include fulfillment capabilities.

1970

Roy’s son, Bruce, started working Advertising Letter Service while attending high school.

1971

To meet the increasing need for space for fulfillment, Advertising Letter Service expanded into an adjoining building.

1979

Bruce purchased shares of the company from Roy; changing the company name to A.L.S. Printing.

1980

Purchased a two-color press, increasing printing capabilities.

1985

A.L.S. Printing built the current building at 650 E. Murdock Avenue.

1988

A large format two color press and electrostatic plate making equipment were added to the business.

1995

Completed an addition to the building, providing more floor space.

1997

A.L.S. Printing celebrated its 50th anniversary.

1998

Another two-color press, collating equipment, and publishing software with direct film/direct to plate.

2008

A.L.S. Printing purchased a new four-color press and installed a direct-to-plate system with workflow software.

2019

Jayson Bochinski and Heather Winscher, 3rd generation, started purchasing shares of A.L.S. Printing and will have complete ownership by 2022, our 75th anniversary.
