Perforation allows two parts of a printed piece to be separated by tearing along a line. Perforation is created by making a series of holes in the paper. The purpose is to help separate the two parts of a sheet or facilitate folding. As with folding, a knife-shaped tool that beats holes or a roller-shaped tool that runs along the paper is used.
